It’s an authentic ‘back to nature’ experience. The hut is totally off-grid, with a double bed and wood burning stove to keep you warm. The toilet, shower room, and kitchen facilities are a few metres away.

Dogs are welcome too. If you are looking for an affordable break from the stresses of modern life, this shepherd’s hut is definitely one to consider.

The Holly Pod

The Holly Pod is ideal for a romantic getaway and is located in Ashbourne, near the southern Peak District.

The hut has power supplied by solar panels on the roof, providing ample electricity to charge your phone or listen to music. There is also a double bed, a mini kitchen, plus a wood burner and hot shower facilities.

Outside there’s a fire pit area and an eco-friendly compost toilet – part of the off-grid experience! Holly Pod is also a dog friendly holiday location.

Riddings Wood Lodges

Riddings Wood Lodges occupy a small area of woodland and have all you need for a comfortable break.

The huts can sleep up to 4 people – there is a double bed and a sofa bed. In addition, there’s an en-suite bathroom and small kitchenette. The fire pit and seating area are great for dining outdoors.

Each hut has free Wi-Fi and access to a communal hot tub area. Guests are allocated 1 hour of exclusive hot tub time every day.

Derbyshire makes an excellent base for a countryside holiday. The Peak District has everything an outdoor enthusiast desires – scenic runs, epic cycle rides, or just a gentle stroll with a pub lunch.

There are also plenty of pretty villages to visit and explore. Matlock, Buxton, and Bakwell being the most famous. Often though, it’s a good idea to be based outside of these areas if you are seeking a quiet, relaxing break.
