Over the past few decades, Cornwall has become one of the UK’s most popular and iconic destinations. Its stunning, beautiful coastline is an outdoor adventurers playground – ideal for surfers, swimmers, and walking fanatics. In addition, it has a wealth of restaurants and cafes offering excellent dining opportunities.
There are numerous beaches to visit and explore – here are our picks of the must-see places:
Porthmeor is a short distance from the centre of St Ives and has won awards for its water quality. There is an on-site surf school with lifeguards making sure that swimmers avoid trouble. An excellent choice as a family friendly beach.
Polzeath Beach is known as a surfing mecca – the water seems to always provide large breaking waves. There is also the Voluntary Marine Reserve that is home to dolphins, seals, and a variety of sea life.
Trevone Beach is located near Padstow and has sandy coves where you can catch the suns rays. It is set against a magnificent backdrop of high cliffs, and is only a short drive or medium walk from Padstow (around 2 miles away).
Whitsand Bay is a long stretch of beach running from Rame Head to Portwinkle. Dogs are allowed and it has become a favoured spot for those enjoying pet holidays. It is generally much quieter than some of the other Cornish beaches.
